Format of SLC
Oregon HOSA SLC is a 2-day conference that is held at the Double Tree hotel in Portland. Students will be staying in the Double Tree hotel in reserved rooms. Students will compete in their application events during one of the 2 days.
Costs & Fundraising
Format of ILC
The International Leadership Conference is usually a 3-day long conference usually held in another state at a hotel or convention center. To qualify to compete at ILC, students must place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their events at the state conference (SLC). ILC follows a similar format as SLC, however, there are over 20,000 competitions that attend the conference.
To participate in HOSA at Westview, students are required to pay a $35 fee at the beginning of the school year. This fee covers the affiliation costs & helps us pay for both SLC and ILC.

To participate at the State Leadership Conference (SLC), the fee varies. There is a set $95 fee for HOSA affiliation at the conference and usually an additional $100 that covers hotel costs. Depending on the dates of the conference, there may be additional costs to pay for substitutes. We understand that these costs may be high for students, which is why we will be holding fundraisers once every two months to make sure that everyone who wants to attend can, without worrying about costs. The money from fundraising will be used to reduce the overall cost for students, and additional aid may be available per the school's budget for clubs/extracurricular activities. If you know you cannot afford the cost, please contact us beforehand.

To participate at the International Leadership Conference (ILC), the fee often exceeds $1000. This covers registration costs, hotel/airfare costs, and other fees that make you able to compete at the conference. Fundraising efforts will also help us lower the costs of sending students to ILC.

All fees are expected to be paid ON TIME. There will be penalties if you pay your fee later than the due date. We may also have to charge you if you pull out of the attending the conference LATER than the drop date.

Info on online testing, etc:
Online testing is usually around February, and the tests are not taken during the actual state conference (even though it says so in the guidelines). Make sure you give yourself enough time to prepare for them compared to your other events. Registration for online testing will be early-mid winter. You only take the tests in the conference when you attend ILC, if you qualify. To qualify for ILC, you have to place top three in your category. This year, the international conference will take place in Orlando, FL (Disney World!!), so study hard!
